The Trade Competition Commission of Thailand has launched guidelines regulating e-commerce conduct, addressing unfair practices and ensuring fair competition. Violations may incur penalties, enforced case-by-case from March 25.

Introduction of New E-Commerce Guidelines

The Trade Competition Commission of Thailand (TCCT) has launched new e-commerce guidelines effective March 25, aiming to regulate business conduct on online platforms. These guidelines are designed to tackle unfair practices and enhance competition in the digital marketplace.

Regulations on Pricing and Conduct

Targeting multi-sided platforms, the guidelines clarify the relationships among operators, sellers, and service providers. They prohibit practices such as parallel pricing, unfair price differences, and excessive charges that could disadvantage sellers. Additionally, non-price conduct issues, like algorithms affecting product visibility, are covered.

Enforcement and Compliance

Enforcement will occur on a case-by-case basis, considering market conditions and contracts. Violators may face penalties, including fines or legal repercussions. The TCCT emphasizes raising awareness among business operators to ensure adherence to competition law.
