NANNING, China, Sept. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — EarthCare Foundation (ECF) co-organized the "Vision 2030 for a Resilient Future" sub-forum during the ASEAN-China Environmental Cooperation Forum 2026, held in Nanning, Guangxi, from September 16 to 17.

Co-hosted by China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment and the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, with support from the ASEAN Secretariat and UNICEF China, the forum convened more than 200 representatives from Chinese and ASEAN environmental authorities, diplomatic missions, international organizations, research institutions and businesses. Since 2011, this authoritative regional platform has held 15 sessions to advance ASEAN-China environmental cooperation. The Framework of ASEAN-China Environmental Cooperation Strategy and Action Plan 2026–2030 was released at this year’s forum.
At the sub-forum, participants examined climate-resilient cities, sustainable livelihoods and coastal community resilience. Ms. Ho Sau Fong, Director of ECF, highlighted Hong Kong’s role as a bridge connecting practical experience, research, community needs and philanthropic resources across China and ASEAN.
Founded in Hong Kong, China, in 2001, ECF has supported more than 100 charitable projects with over HK$300 million in funding. Its work spans environmental education, sustainable food and agriculture, sustainable livelihoods and environmental protection across China and Asia.
Ms. Ho showcased ECF’s Climate-Friendly Rice Project, implemented since 2021 with the partners across Yunnan, Sichuan, Heilongjiang, Hunan, Jiangxi and Guangdong. Through furrow-and-ridge construction, integrated water and nutrient management, mulch-based planting and machinery adaptation, participating households and cooperatives have achieved increases of at least 10% in both yields and incomes while strengthening resilience to drought and heavy rainfall.
Dr. Sudawadee Limpaibul, Programme Coordinator of ECF, presented the Foundation’s reforestation work in Thailand and community projects in Indonesia’s coastal villages. She explained how ECF works with local partners and communities to combine environmental protection and sustainable livelihoods with stronger community capacity to address climate and environmental risks.
Looking ahead, ECF will deepen people-to-people knowledge exchange, root cooperation in communities and engage government, research, philanthropic, private-sector and community partners. ECF believes communities should be not only beneficiaries, but also participants and co-creators in approaches tailored to local realities. By connecting research insights, local needs and philanthropic resources, the Foundation seeks to support locally led action and build practical, enduring partnerships for a more sustainable and climate-resilient region.
